West Indies SAI LEADERSHIP Retreat 2017

Objectives of Sai Leadership Retreat
  1. To implement standardised officers’ training at all levels and help bring a sense of unity throughout the Organisation.
  2. To impart useful knowledge related to the SSIO structure, communication, delegation, and other pertinent topics.
  3. To provide a forum for officers to meet, connect and share resources in a loving, professional and harmonious environment.
  4. To discuss scenarios (guided by Swami’s teachings & relevant value focus) that will prepare officers to be competent and loving in their duties.
  5. To prepare national, regional, and centre officers to conduct effective and consistent training.
The learning sessions and workshops will be facilitated by:
  • Vijay Sagramsingh from the Orlando Sai Centre. He developed the Officer Training Workshop Program which has been used successfully all over the USA. He has been a Regional Spiritual Coordinator and Regional President USA.
  • Dr Axay Kalathia.  He was born in the US and has been in Bhagawan’s fold for more than four decades.  He is also President of Region 3, a US Sathya Sai Council Member, and an active volunteer Doctor at the Prasanthi General Hospital.
  • Dr Joe Phaneuf, National YA Advisor USA, faculty member SSIO Youth Leadership Program and speaker on Loving Communication.
MR VIJAY SAGRAMSINGH Vijay Sagramsingh is an EA., certified enrolled agent by the IRS.  He is a Tax professional and consultant. He completed his degree studies in Financial Accounting at University of Central Florida. He joined the Sri Sathya Sai Organization of the United States upon migrating to the US from his native country of Trinidad & Tobago and has and continues to serve the organization for almost three decades. Vijay has held several key positions in the US Sai Organization:
  • Regional Youth Advisor (Region 3 – first appointed in the country)
  • Regional Devotion’s Coordinator
  • Regional President
  • National Devotional Coordinator
  • International Events Committee (member)
To his credit, Vijay has helped planned & coordinated two successful Sri Sathya Sai Pre-world Conferences in the city of Orlando. Currently, he is a US Council Member and a member of the national planning committee for training Center Officers nationally.  

DR AXAY KALATHIA Dr. Axay Kalathia was born in India and was raised in the US since the age of 6.  He first heard of Sathya Sai Baba while a skeptical university science student in 1985. With Swami’s Grace he was drawn into His fold and first visited Prasanthi Nilayam in 1988. Over the past 25 years he has been active in His organization, serving as an SSE teacher, YA adviser, service coordinator, vice president and president at the Tampa Bay Sai Center in Florida.  He has also served as the Southeast USA YA adviser, Devotional Coordinator, VP and President. Since 2000 he has been privileged to travel annually to serve in Swami’s General Hospital in Puttaparthi as an ENT physician. He is married to Calice and they currently have 4 children attending university at the graduate and undergraduate level.  

DR JOE PHANEUF Dr. Joseph Phaneuf, or Dr. Joe as he is commonly called, is a dermatologist by profession and he has been guided by the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba since 1986 when he first had the good fortune to meet and speak with our Dearest Swami.  These teachings have guided and inspired him to be a more compassionate and loving physician and work on becoming a good human being. He has practiced medicine for the past 38 years and recently retired as Chief of Medical Staff Education, Communication Consultant and Dermatologist at Kaiser Permanente medical clinics and hospital in Union City and San Leandro, California. He continues to practice medicine as the Medical Director and Dermatologist at the Ashland Free Medical Clinic which is located in San Lorenzo, California and continues to serve at the Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital and Medical Camps in Prasanthi Nilayam when ever he is able to do so.  He continues to facilitate communication workshops based on the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba in the USA, and in the past has led communication workshops in India, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.  He also has spoken about the Swami’s Life, Message, and the many Service Projects that He has inspired around the world at public meeting in Saratoga, California, Geneva, Switzerland, and Hannover, Germany. He serves as Regional Medical Director for Region 7, and Chairman of the USA Medical Committee for the SSIO.  In the Young Adult program he serves as National Young Adult Advisor and also as a committee member and faculty for the SSIYLP (Sathya Sai International Youth Leadership Program). He has written about how Swami’s teachings have transformed his life and the way he practices medicine in various books, publications, and websites to include, “Inspired Medicine”, “Sathya Shivam Sundaram Vol 6”, and the “Love in Action website”.
